Flood prediction 2008

Floods !!!

 

Heavy rains was in all Jakarta at Friday 01-Feb-2008. I have been in Telkom Gatsu at that night around 11:12 PM. When come back to my home, It was heavy rain, line of street cannot be seen in toll street. I only drive my car with speed maximum 80kmph since I cannot see street line properly, usually I race between speed 100-140kmph in toll. I arrived home and heavy rains still happen all night long till the day after.

 

Around 11:00 AM, water starts enter garage and suffuse car tire as high as ankle. I’m starting evacuate family to a safe place, my wife is pregnant and I don’t want to risk her infects any diseases because of floods.

 

At 14:00 i leave home.

 

My residential was already full of water, it was around 20-30cm high. Lucky, my car Toyota Kijang was high enough to pass beyond flood. My destination is Harmony – Tomang, sister’s house.

 

I went to Mall Artha Gading (MAG) and having plan to pass Tol Street “South Toll” (Cawang). Oh my God, All car was stuck in front of (MAG) Mall, heavy traffic there. Stuck here sufficiently long, I need 1 hour to go through 50m. In front of toll door, water suffuses street 40-50cm. This cause many short cars (sedan) cannot passing floods. I pray and wish my car won’t stuck in the middle of floods. Thanks God, I save passing floods. Motorcycle also used Toll street, as usual, they don’t have enough traffic awareness. Some of them aware about that, some other not.

Toll Street have heavy traffics, I started to leave Toll and looking for another alternative. It should be Jatinegara and Casablanca street.

Lucky me, I could easily pass Jatinegara, Casablanca and Tanah Abang at 30 minutes.

 

At 7 at night I arrive at sister house.

Total, it takes me around 4:30 minutes journey from Kelapa Gading go to Tomang. Oh My GOD.
